Okay, so I've heard it from a few that it would be a good idea to start a blog about my experience in Munich, Germany this summer. I am new to this blogging thing, so bear with me ;).
I will be studying abroad at the Munich Intellectual Property Law Center and Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property, Competition and Tax Law. The program is through George Washington University Law School in Washington DC. I attend William Mitchell College of Law in Minnesota and the credits will transfer. I am taking four 1 credit classes: Theoretical Foundations of Intellectual Property, Technical Protection of Author's Rights, Internet Law and Software Contracts.
I head out to Europe in less than two weeks, connecting through Chicago with a five hour layover. But that's alright, I have plenty of studying to do already. First assignments have been posted, and books have been ordered. It is only 4 credits, but I should have listened to my professors when they stated that it would be a lot of work! The program is split into two 2 week sessions, two classes for each session, with final papers and exams determining the grades.
There is no one from William Mitchell attending this program with me, and I know no one who is enrolled. The majority of students who will be attending are coming from Washington DC and George Washington University Law School. However, this will be a challenge and an adventure that I welcome. When an opportunity presents itself, it is always a shame to let it pass you by :).
Oh yeah, I don't know German and the crash course of CDs I purchased at the local bookstore isn't much of a help. I keep replying to the dialogues in French! Oh well, just another hurtle to overcome... c'est la vie :)!
